Without a doubt, Peru was a country of amazing contrasts - hot days, freezing nights; towering Andes and flat deserts. Ironically, Peruvian locals were amongst the friendliest we've met, yet for us Peru was the 2nd most likely country (after Brazil) to have our stuff stolen in.

Its also been a country of unforgettable sights - the small stocky Peruvians with their Red Indian features, bowler hats and kids strapped in bright bundles on their backs; plus the whole archaeology and legacy of the Incas.

Bed covers that never quite reach far enough to tuck in, fizzy drinks that are explosively bubbly at high altitude, and blisters after the Inca Trail - all the stuff that sweet memories are made of. Never did feel brave enough to try that Inca delicacy of roasted guinea pig though...
